Kwaebibirem NFED Facilitators given incentives

Kade, Oct. 22, GNA - Forty-seven facilitators of the Non- Formal Education Division (NFED) of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports in the Kwaebibirem District have been presented with incentives for their two years' service.

During that period they were able to make 290 learners to acquire the skills of reading, writing numeric and some vocational skills. Each facilitator was made to choose between a packet of roofing sheets and a ghetto blaster sound system.

Speaking at the ceremony the acting Kwaebibirem District Co-ordinator of NFED, Miss Patricia Ansah, said some of the learners could now read or write in their mother tongue, some have taken key positions in their churches and communities while a few others have been enrolled in formal school.

She thanked the facilitators for their dedicated work and said the incentives were only a token of the appreciation of the government for their services.

The Regional Director of NFED, Mr Christopher Agyare Kordie, advised the facilitators to improve upon their education. Mr Kordie praised the facilitators for their selfless service and urged writers to include Ghanaian languages in their manuals, especially on agricultural products such as agro-chemicals to benefit those who cannot read English. 22 Oct. 08
