Kwahu East Assembly initiates 82 development projects

Abetifi, June 02, GNA - The Kwahu East District Assembly has initiated 82 development projects including 34 educational infrastructures in the various communities over the past two and a half years.

The Chinese government is also assisting the government to construct a district hospital at Abetifi.

The District Chief Executive, Mr Samuel Asamoah, said this when the President John Evans Atta Mills inaugurated a GH¢1.3m lorry park and a durbar ground at Abetifi as part of his three-day working visit to the Eastern Region.

He said most of the projects which were in the educational and health social sectors were financed from their share of the District Assembly Common Fund and Internally Generated Revenue (IGF).

President Mills said the government would ensure equitable distribution of the national cake to all sectors of the economy to enhance the development of the country.

President Mills also inaugurated a GH¢132,000 six classroom block, office, store, library and a place of convenience for the Bepong Presbyterian Primary School and a 12-unit classroom block for the Nkwatia Presbyterian Senior High School.

The chief of Abetifi, Nana Asiedu Agyemang III, commended the government for initiating various development projects in the District and appealed for the construction of roads to the various tourist sites in the communities.

He also appealed to the government to rehabilitate the Kwahu Water Project to help provide portable water supply to the various communities on the Kwahu Ridge.

Nana Agyemang III assured the President of the people's support to the District Assembly to undertake various development projects in the Kwahu community.
