Kwahu East District Assembly gives account of performance

The Kwahu East District Assembly has given a vivid account of local government performance in the area since assuming power in 2017.

Addressing the media in a Meet the press session at the Assembly Hall in Abetifi, District Chief Executive, Isaac Agyapong said the objective of the conference is to is to bring to light projects implemented by government in the last few years.

On social intervention, Mr. Agyapong said over a thousand individuals in 150 households in the district have been enrolled onto the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty Programme between 2017 and 2019 representing a total of 85% of beneficiaries; adding that more will be put on the programme in the coming year.

On security he said that the Member of Parliament together with the Assembly provided logistics to the District Police command to curb crime rates and mentain law and order in district.

The DCE stated that the donation of a Nissan pick up to the Police and a joint security beef up has inculcate sanity in the district and beyond.

He also made mention of classroom blocks built for 8 schools in the area supply of 350 dual desk for all basic schools in the district as part of assisting government plan of promoting quality education. The Assembly also provided a dormitory block for Nkwatia Senior High school.

On sanitation and health, he stated that the district built toilet facilities for selected communities and patnered Zoomlion to provide dustbin to curb indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Bryan Acheampong also assured constituents of completion of a district hospital in Abetifi to provide quality Healthcare for the people.

The District has also constructing over 400 boreholes to ease water scarcity during the dry season.

The DCE however thanked Non Governmental Organizations in the area for their continous support . He said government cannot do it all and was grateful to them for putting smiles on the faces of people in the constituency.
