Kwahu West Agricultural Directorate raises 4,000 birds for sale

Nkawkaw Nov.4, GNA-The Kwahu West Municipal Directorate of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), has raised 4,000 cockerels for sale this year as against 1,000 birds last year. The day-old birds were purchased from a poultry farmer in Kumasi, reared and gave them the needed vaccines and drugs for eight weeks before selling them to interested people at the cost of GH¢2.50p each.

Nkawkaw Nov.4, GNA-The Kwahu West Municipal Directorate of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), has raised 4,000 cockerels for sale this year as against 1,000 birds last year. The day-old birds were purchased from a poultry farmer in Kumasi, reared and gave them the needed vaccines and drugs for eight weeks before selling them to interested people at the cost of GH¢2.50p each. The Municipal Director of Agriculture, Mrs Emelia Nortey, announced this at the fourth session of the assembly in Nkawkaw on Wednesday. She said 108 acres of maize, 81.5 acres of rice and 390 acres of cassava had been cultivated in the municipality under the Youth in Agriculture Programme to increase food production in the area. Mrs Nortey advised the various farmers' groups who had received various sums of money to undertake the project to pay back to enable others to also benefit. She advised livestock farmers in the municipality to vaccinate their animals such as sheep, goats, cattle, dogs and cats to keep them healthy.
