Nkawkaw, Jan. 27, GNA - Mr. Emmanuel Boansi Darkwa, Kwahu West Municipal Chief Executive, has denied allegation that took 1,000 bags of cement belonging to the assembly to Kwahu Nsaba, his home town, and distributed the building materials to New Patriotic Party (NPP) officials in the area.
In an interview with GNA at Nkawkaw, he said that before Election 2008, the assembly purchased 1,000 bags of cement from the Ghana Cement Works (GHACEM) at Tema for European Union (EU) funded projects and other works initiated by communities and Churches. Mr. Darkwa explained that the cement formed part of the assembly's 25 per cent counterpart funded EU projects and support for community-funded projects, as part of its social responsibility. He mentioned some of the EU funded projects as the construction of classroom blocks at Awendade, Asona, Kwahu Nsaba and Nsuta Aweregya in the municipality.
Mr. Darkwa said liberty Church at Nkawkaw, Mpraeso Amanfrom Pentecost Church Preparatory School, the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church and Nazareth Church Preparatory school at Atibie Amanfrom would receive some of the cement for their projects. He said communities including Gyamaase, Denting, Abipotia and Nkwanta also received some cement for community-initiated projects such as clinics and markets.
