Kyebi School children parade marks Ind. anniversary

Kyebi, March 07, GNA- Mr Emmanuel Victor Asihene, the Acting East Akim District Chief Executive, took the salute and read the Presidential address when 18 basic schools, three second cycle institutions and voluntary organizations took part in a parade to mark the 48th anniversary of Ghana's Independence at Kyebi on Sunday. Prizes were given to schools which excelled in the march past, with the first prize in the primary division going to the Kibi Presbyterian Primary, Kibi Local Authority Experimental School second and Kibi Anglican Primary third.

In the Junior Secondary School (JSS) division, Kibi L/A Experimental JSS was first, Kibi Presbyterian Demonstration JSS second and Kibi Methodist JSS came third.


Abuakwa State College won the first place among the second cycle schools, Kibi Secondary Technical School was second and Kibi Vocational Technical School third.


In the finals of this year's annual East Akim District Assembly Trophy Tournament games organized as part of the activities to mark the anniversary, Kibi State JSS beat Adadientem Roman Catholic JSS 8-4 in netball.

In the boys' soccer tournament, Kibi State Primary School beat Apapam Presbyterian Primary School 4-2 on penalty kicks after a nil-nil full-time score.


Ms Ernestina Ofori, the East Akim District Director of Education, called for quality education to be provided for children to guide them to make an informed decisions that would get them out of the shackles of ignorance, disease, poverty and indiscipline.


She, therefore, asked parents, teachers, churches and opinion leaders to rise up to their responsibilities to equip the children, who are the future leaders of the country, with knowledge and skills to move the country forward.
