Kumasi, June 21, GNA- Citizens of Kyekyewere in the Afigya-Sekyere District of Ashanti, have commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for the numerous development projects that have been undertaken in the town since the it came to power. In a statement signed by Mr Owusu Mensah, chairman of the Kyekyewere Citizens Association, the citizens praised the NPP for working tirelessly to fulfil its campaign promises during the 2000 general elections.

The statement indicated that the town had its roads tarred, and has been provided with electricity, nurses' quarters and a library among other facilities, within the NPP's short period of administration. It congratulated President J.A Kufuor for his vision and dedication, which had ensured democratic rule and prudent economic management. This, according to the statement, had resulted in the huge debt cancellation by international donors and financial institutions. It said the debt relief would go a long way to consolidate Ghana's economic gains towards accelerated socio-economic development.

The statement commended Mr Albert Kan-Dapaah, Minister of Communications and Member of Parliament for the area, for his contribution to the development of the area.
