Mr Baba Jamal, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, on Tuesday, presented 200 tyre changing and air compression equipment to the Ghana National Association of Garages for distribution to its members.
The equipments are part of 600 requested by the Association for members countrywide.
The donation was under the Local Enterprise and Skills Development Programme (LESDEP).
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr Jamal said the government through LESDEP is contributing to sustainable growth and development of local enterprises.
He said through interventions such as the LESDEP programme, the government had trained and set up people from all diverse backgrounds in various trades and businesses.
Mr Jamal said the new focus of LESDEP is to extend support to skill based business organisations instead of individuals because such institutions would be better placed to make recommendations for qualified beneficiaries.
He, therefore, urged members of the Association to take advantage of the programme to set up their own businesses and expand existing ones.
Mr Adem Gariba, National Coordinator of LESDEP said the cost of the LESDEP training is free.
