Tema, Feb. 27, GNA- Victor Avoke, a labourer, was on Friday, fined two million cedis for causing damage to a lorry windscreen and side-glass by a circuit court "A" at Tema.
He pleaded guilty and will go to prison for 12 months if he fails to pay the fine.
Police Chief Inspector Mary Assunta, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu, that on January 10, 2003, at about 0830 hours, Avoke boarded a mini bus and when the vehicle got to Afariwa junction, the accused gave 2,000 cedis to the driver's mate who gave a change of 900 cedis, but Avoke insisted that 100 cedis should be added but the mate refused.
Avoke started misbehaving, and when the driver stopped and asked him to get down, the accused became offended and beat the driver and caused damage to the vehicle windscreen and one of the side glasses, all valued at 1.6 million cedis. A report was, therefore, made to the Ashaiman police and Avoke was arrested.
