The registration of land title has been made easy with the intervention of the Land Administration Project (LAP) that has made it possible for land owners to register them in all the 10 regions, Mr Kofi Abakah Blankson, Senior Officer of the Project, has said.
He said unlike in the past when land could only be registered in Accra and Kumasi LAP has, through the Lands Commission, now opened offices and facilities for land owners and buyers to register title in all the 10 regional capitals.
Mr Blankson said this when addressing Senior and Junior Staffers of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources at an Orientation Workshop organized by the Communication and Public Outreach Outfit of the National Project Coordinating Unit (PCU) of LAP-2 in Accra.
He said the second phase of the Project, launched in September 2011, is consolidating and strengthening the modest gains of the first phase in removing business bottlenecks in land transactions and promoting transparency and efficiency in land administration.
Mr Blankson said LAP-2 is undertaking House Numbering and Street naming in some selected communities in the Greater Accra Region in collaboration with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.
Mrs Gifty Biyira, the Director of Administration of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, said it was of vital importance for staff of the Ministry to be apprised of the Project, its Development Objects, goals and implementation status since the Project was a baby of the Ministry with funding support from the World Bank and the Canadian International Development Agency.
She said the second phase of the Project had started the process of introducing massive reforms in the land sector agencies as well as building the capacity of staff of the Implementing Agencies to have sustainable land administration tenure for the country to help attract local and foreign investment.
Mrs Biyira said the Land Administration Project is in pursuant of the nation’s land policy of 1989 to streamline land transactions for a land management system for natural and environmental management, food security and vulnerability monitoring, human settlements planning, transportation and service delivery for poverty reduction.
