Langma chief appeals for support to complete school block

Langma (GAR) May 3 GNA - Nene Otchie Adeta II, chief of Langma, near Kokrobitey in the Ga West District, has appealed to the District Assembly to complete a 600 million cedi primary school block initiated by the people, which had been abandoned for the lack of funds. He also raised serious concerns about robberies and the lack of security in the area, which had given rise to criminal activities, reducing patronage of foreigners at the beach resorts.

Nene Adetu said this on Monday when the District Chief Executives (DCE) of Ga West, Mr Quartey Papafio paid a courtesy call on him at his palace as part of his familiarisation tour to acquaint himself with problems in the area. Mr Paul Dagbil Kwaku, head teacher of the primary school expressed concern about the lack of adequate educational facilities in the area and appealed to the District Assembly to complete the abandoned school block.

He took the DCE round the thatch-roofed primary school block, which did not befit a place for teaching and learning because according to him the school had to close any time it rained. The DCE assured the people that it had been their concerns that the Dampase school block, which was abandoned, would be completed very soon. He said a police station would also be establish at Kokrobite to curb all criminal activities in the area and urged the people to form neighbourhood watch committees to beef up security to reduce rampant stealing and robbery of foreigners at the beach. 03 May 06
