A retired Supreme Court Judge, Mr Justice S. A. Brobbey, has said abiding by the law would ensure socio-cultural and economic development.
He said the people needed law, rules and customs to bring order for peace and fast development to take place to promote their welfare.
Mr Justice Justice Brobbey said this at the installation of Nana Arhin II as Tufohene of Gomoa Ayensuadze in the Gomoa East District.
Nana Arhin 42, known in her private life as Mrs Debora Fenyin Ansah, is an Accra-based businesswoman.
He said without leaders, laws and rules the people would indulge in acts which would plunge the nation into chaos or war that could retard economic development.
“If it is a taboo to go to farm on a particular day, obey not because the chief will punish you but because there is the need for that to be guided and protected,” Mr Justice Brobbey said and added that customs, rules and laws made at the Gomoa Ayensuadze must be obeyed to ensure peace and stability in the area.
He paid tribute to queen mothers who became chiefs and mentioned some of them as Yaa Asantewah of Ejisu and Nana Juabeng Serwah of New Juabeng and appealed to the people to show commitment and love towards the newly installed Tufohene to promote education, sanitation, and health and road network of the area.
Nana Arhin promised to do her best for Gomoa Ayensuadze and appealed to the ministry of Roads and Highways to help construct the road linking Winneba- and Agona Swedru main trunk as well as the bridge at the outskirts of the town.
Ms Rachel Adjoa Appoh, Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central, promised to work with all citizens of the area, irrespective of political affiliation, to development the area.
