Participants at public education forum held for women at Juaso in the Asante-Akim South District, identified laxity in the enforcement of the law as one of the major factors stoking indiscipline and impunity in the country.
They therefore called for state institutions and the security agencies to act firmly to prosecute people who breached the law.
They cited the situation where people littered, degraded the environment, evaded tax and refused to take care of their children but let go unpunished.
They added that this could only encourage them to continue to disrespect the law.
The forum was held for the Juaso Methodist Women Fellowship by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) as part of the effort to the help the people to have better understanding of their civic responsibilities.
Mrs. Mercy Osei, President of the Fellowship, said there should be no room for lawlessness and impunity.
She appealed to the government to ensure that the NCCE was adequately resourced to reach out and assisted everybody to live up to their civic responsibilities.
Mr. Victor Obuobi, a Civic Education Officer at the District Office of the Commission, reminded all to put the nation ahead of self-serving interest, personal comfort or convenience in everything they did.
He entreated members of the fellowship to focus on good character training of their children to enable them to grow into responsible adults.
He additionally asked them to take centre stage in the fight against corruption and other evils in the society.
