Lebanese Community Fresh Beneficiary students

The Lebanese Community has for the third consecutive time provided scholarship to 16 students from the Law Faculty of the University of Ghana(UG) at the Financial Aid Office of the School's campus in Accra.

The Award scheme, an initiative of the Lebanese Embassy and the Lebanese Community in the country was for students who distinguished themselves in academics during the 2014/2015 academic year.

It will cover 100% of the beneficiaries tuition fees, while part of their accommodation charges will be taken care of.

In his address, HE Ali Halabi, the Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana said " The final selection of students was done after a rigorous interview session and at this juncture, I would like to congratulate our bright students.

"The law profession is one that permeates all aspects of society and forms the foundation on which any society is grounded. It is for this reason that the Lebanese Community decided to award scholarship to our future legists, and we promise to continue with the assistance.

"It is interesting to note that the renowned investigative journalists cum lawyer Anas Aremeyaw Anas is an alumnus of both UG and GIJ, the two institutions whose students are currently benefiting from this scholarship scheme."

So far, the Lebanese Community quest to contribute its quota educating the Ghana child ,has extended the gesture to 100 tertiary students offering different programs, as well as enrolled some of the beneficiaries at Alliance Francaise.

A beneficiary of the scheme s indicated that "these support given to us by the Lebanese Community in Ghana clearly was to encourage scholarship in our academic work as future lawyers."

The Vice-Chancellor of UG, Professor Ernest Aryetey thanked the Lebanese Community for the gesture.
