Kumasi, Nov 9, GNA - A four-unit classroom block built for the Kyirapatre SDA Junior High School in Kumasi to provide more space for the growing pupils' population has been inaugurated.

The Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) and a Danish children NGO jointly provided the funding. Performing the inaugural ceremony, which coincided with the Silver Jubilee of the Church, Pastor Peter Owusu Mensa, the Director for Chaplaincy and Family Ministries of the West Central African sub-region of the SDA, said the church should do more to compliment efforts by the government to improve education.

Pastor Kwabena Annor Boafo, Health Director, SDA Health Services of Ghana, said the SDA was not only concerned about the spiritual well being of the people but also their physical needs as well.

It was for this reason that the Church has over the years served as an effective partner of the state in the provision of education, health, water and sanitation facilities.

Nana Owusu Annor Panin III, Kyirapatrehene, commended the church for putting the land given them into good use and pledged mored cooperation with it.

He appealed to people in the area to take advantage of the Church's activities to improve on their spiritual lives and that of their children.

Mr Joseph Fofie, the head teacher of the school, appealed to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to support them with additional classrooms, furniture, reading materials and other facilities to enhance teaching and learning.
