Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Ghana's Lands and Natural Resources Minister
The founder and president of Ashanti Caucus in Ellembelle Constituency of the Western region, Wofa Atta, has called on Ghanaians to rally behind the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah to succeed in the fight against galamsey.
Ashanti Caucus is one of the groups that canvassed votes for the national Democratic Congress (NDC) and Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah in Ellembelle Constituency in 2024.
It was established in 2012 by Wofa Atta at Elubo in Jomoro Constituency with the main aim of canvassing votes for NDC.
So far, Ashanti Caucus has over 400 registered executives and members in Ellembelle Constituency.
Speaking to Daniel Kaku at Nzema Aiyinasi on Sunday, November 30, 2025, Wofa Atta emphasised that he would not dissolve the group and pledged to extend their activities to other Constituencies.
He commended the executives and members of the group for devoting their precious time to attending meetings every Sunday.
"I established this Ashanti Caucus for NDC at Elubo in Jomoro 2012 to campaign for Francis Anaman to become MP in 2013 and we worked harder for the party, I left Jomoro late to settle at Nzema Aiyinasi in Ellembelle Constituency and for the love I have for the party, I didn't collapse the group, in 2020, we campaigned for Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah and John Dramani Mahama but John Dramani Mahama did not win, after 2020 elections, I didn't collapse it, I continued with it till 2024 and we won both parliamentary and presidential elections", he stated.
"As I speak to you now, we have over 400 people who have registered and after the 2024 elections, we have been meeting on every Sunday after church at Nzema Aiyinasi in order to maintain the members and executives who are NDC members.
"Another reason why I have not dissolved the group is that I want to maintain the base and spread the good news of NDC government so that in 2028, NDC will have it simple in Ellembelle because 2028 is just around the corner and I have pledged myself to work forever for NDC, I always think about the development of NDC than anything so I will use whatever I have to support the party to be attractive in Ellembelle Constituency", he added.
Wofa Atta commended President John Dramani Mahama for placing trust in Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as his Lands and Natural Resources Minister.
He stated that Armah-Kofi Buah was a hardworking man and believed he would not disappoint President John Dramani Mahama in the fight against galamsey.
"As for me, I believe strongly that Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah will achieve a lot at the Lands and Natural Resources Ministry and he will not disappoint President John Dramani Mahama", he stated.
He therefore, commended Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah for stopping galamsey activities in his Constituency, Ellembelle.
"Let me use this platform to commend Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah for his leadership style, before 2025, Ellembelle was one of the galamsey Constituencies in Ghana, a lot of Chinese nationals came here to do galamsey with excavators but today that Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah is the Lands Minister, the galamsey activities had stopped and I will be difficult for anybody to enter any galamsey site or forest in Ellembelle with excavator", he said.
Wofa Atta concluded by urging the good people of Ellembelle Constituency and Ghanaians to rally behind Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah to succeed in the fight against illegal mining (galamsey) in the country.
