Adansi-Asokwa (Ash), Dec 13, GNA - Mr Peter Kwabena Ameyaw, the Adansi North District Chief Executive, has deplored the low level of educational performance of schools in the new district. He has therefore urged heads and teachers to step up their teaching to improve education in the area.
Mr Ameyaw, who was speaking at the open day of the Adansi-Asokwa Local Authority Junior Secondary School at the weekend, said, "It is my prayer that teachers and heads of schools in this area will perform." He said the assembly had initiated a number of programmes including the training of over 100 pupil teachers to raise the level of education in the district. The assembly is also providing new school blocks and mentioned Adiembra, Tewobabi and Brofoyedru as some of the areas where new school blocks had been sited.
Mr Isaac Kofi Bimpong, the District Director of Education, stressed the need for parents to invest in the education of their children and wards.
Mr Eliot Dedume, the headmaster of the school, commended the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr K.T. Hammond for rehabilitating the JSS block for them. He said last year the school presented 64 students for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) out of which 40 qualified for the senior secondary school. The DCE later presented a 29-inch coloured television set to the school for the promotion of the President's Special Initiative (PSI) on distance learning in English and mathematics.
