Ejisu (Ash), Sept. 3, GNA - Local Government staff have been advised to do more to help strengthen the decentralisation system in the country.

Mr Charles K. Dondieu, outgoing Coordinating Director of the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly, said as core staff of the District and Municipal Assemblies, they played a critical role in ensuring the success of Local Government concept in the country.

He gave the advice when introducing Mr Owusu Frimpong Boadu, a new coordinating director for the Municipality at Ejisu at a short handing over ceremony.

Mr Dondieu, who is on transfer to the Central Region, expressed worry about the frequent transfers of Local Government staff and said it created some sort of instability in the families of such staff.

He said the situation where a civil servant was transferred two three times within the same year, affected the education of their wards who had to change schools when the academic calendar had not ended.

He said his one year as Municipal Coordinating Director for the area had added more working experience to his life.

Mr Dondieu thanked the staff and residents for the kind support and co-operation rendered to him during his one year stint and said this had enriched his working experience and asked them to do the same thing to the new Director.

Mr Boadu, who was transferred from Berekum in the Brong Ahafo Region, commended the outgoing director for all the efforts he made to move the Municipality forward and promised to continue such efforts.

He called for team work among the civil servants in the area since that was the only tool, which could be used to develop the area.

Madam Adwoa Konadu, Deputy Coordinating Director of the Assembly, described Mr Dondieu, as a hard working, dedicated and a unifier that the Assembly had ever had.
