A Branch Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tema East Constituency, Mr. Charles Amoako Brobbey (popularly known as freshers) has commenced a targeted distribution of relief items to some vulnerable residents of the Tema East Constituency.

The exercise, according to him, is aimed at giving some relief to constituents, especially the most vulnerable, while locked down in their homes in a bid to tame the spread of the Coronavirus. The items include food items such as rice , oil, sardine, etc. Other sanitary items such as liquid soaps and hand sanitizers were also distributed. The project is targeted at feeding at least 200 members of the Constituency over this period of lockdown.

Mr. Amoako Brobbey says the project is his own little contribution to efforts by the leader and flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, to curb the further spread of the coronavirus in the country. He says as a concerned citizen in his Constituency, he recognizes the need to care and protect his compatriots from being infected and stop the spread of the virus in their various communities.

“As much as we value our compatriots and the community that permits us (the NDC) the space to thrive and operate, we believe these crucial times of the COVID-19 pandemic is an opportune time to prove how much we care for the people, especially our constituents here in Tema East,” Mr. Brobbey said.

In addition to the relief items, Mr. Brobbey has also given out over 200 posters intended to create awareness on the pandemic within the Constituency. He noted that the pandemic has created fear and panic among the populace and therefore there is the need to give ciritcal information to people as to what the safety protocols are. He urged all individuals and corporate entities to give their all to support its fight.

Mr. Amoako Brobbey also gave out assorted food items to the Constituency Executives of the party, noting that the bulk of work to be done rests heavily on their (Executives’) shoulders, and so it was just proper that they would be motivated to continue the good work and not left out in whatever support that was coming to the Constituency.

Receiving the items for onward distribution to constituents, the Constituency Chairman of the NDC, Alhaji Mahama Bulsa thanked Mr. Amoako Brobbey for his continuous commitment to and support for all initiatives of the party within the Constituency and his present support to drastically reduce the spread of the virus. He reiterated the need for a concerted effort to garner all the resources required to combat the virus.
