Lordina Celebrates 50th Birthday with Osu Children’s Home

The first lady madam Lordina Mahama has donated food items to the Osu children’s home to mark her 50th birthday anniversary which falls on the 6th of March, the same day Ghana gain her independence from Britain in 1957.

The items include, 10 bags of rice, 5 bags of sugar, 2 cans of cooking oil, 4 cartons of milk, 2 cartons of milo, 2 cartons of cookies, 2 cartons of Golden Tree chocolate and assorted drinks and cash. Donating the items, the first lady said: “this is keeping with my commitment towards the wellbeing of the children and to let them join me in celebrating my 50th birthday”.

Mrs Mahama, a philantropist, has regularly donated items to orphanages on her birthdays and during Christmas as part of her commitments to providing them with their needs on festive occasions. She has over the years, committed her time and resources to supporting care homes.

She supports seven (7) orphanages across the country: Anfaani Children's Home, Tamale Children's Home all in Tamale; Frank May Orphanages Home and Let Kids Smile in Techiman, Bethsaida Orphanage in Nkoranza, Osu Children's Home and Frafraha Children's Home in Accra.

Aside being the First lady of Ghana, she is also the National President of a non-governmental organization, Alternative Source of Income Programme (ASIOP) dedicated to orphans and the vulnerable in society.

The supervisor of the Osu Children's Home, Mrs Sharon Abbey, expressed her gratitude to the First Lady for fulfilling her commitments on her birthdays and during Christmas period. Observing that the donation will make the birthday celebration a memorable one for the children; she praised her for the generosity shown towards them over the years.

She described the first lady as a "kindhearted woman, who has the welfare of vulnerable children at heart". She thanked her for the support and wished her longevity on her 50th birthday.

The children sung happy birthday for the Mrs Mahama who was beaming with smiles. Little Michelle, 3 years old, surprised the first lady when she asked for the whereabouts of the President, His Excellency John Mahama, indicating to Mrs Mahama that she wants to see the President.
