Kumasi, July 9, GNA- Mr. Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, on Wednesday swore into office two newly appointed and approved Municipal and District Chief Executives of the Region. They were Mr. Rockson Kofi Agyekum, the Asante-Mampong Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and Mr. Edward Kwame Anning, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie Central with its district headquarters at Jacobu.

After leading them through the administration of the official oath as well as the oath of allegiance and secrecy at the Regional Coordinating Council Conference room, the Regional Minister urged them to be broadminded and be fair and firm in their dealings with the people. He advised them not only to be development oriented, but should work hard to prove that, President Kufuor did not appoint them for nothing.

He reminded them that they have come to serve but not to lord it over the people and by so doing they would receive the needed support and cooperation from all stakeholders. Mr. Owusu-Ansah advised them to follow the procurement procedures to the letter and avoid any attempt to divert government property and other resources. The Regional Minister called on them to refrain from dabbling in chieftaincy disputes but endeavour to settle disputes amicably without taking sides. He called on them to recognize the role of all stakeholders, especially the traditional authorities who are real partners in development in their day-to-day administration of good governance in their areas. Mr. Owusu-Ansah called on them to be committed to their work, adding that "it is only through this that you will bring the government to the people". Mr. Agyekum, in a remark praised President J.A Kufuor for the honour done them and pledged that he and his colleague would do everything possible within their means to raise the development status of their areas of jurisdiction. 09 July 08
