Mr. Samuel Fleischer-Kwabi, the Suhum Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has called for unity and support for each other irrespective of tribal and religious differences.
He said the Government shared the pain of the people over the power crisis facing the country and that President Mahama was doing everything possible to find a solution to the challenge.
Mr. Fleischer-Kwabi said this during the 58th Independence Anniversary at Suhum in the Eastern Region.
In all, 993 students from 16 selected first and second cycle schools in the Suhum Municipality took part in the march pass.
The 2014 Basic Education Certificate Examination results indicate that the Municipality achieved 82.8 per cent, an improvement upon the previous year’s results of 57.3 per cent.
Mr. Fleischer-Kwabi said 28 schools had 100 percent as compared to 17 in 2013 and that the schools that scored the 100 percent included 10 public schools and 18 private schools.
He said no school recorded zero per cent in the Municipality and congratulated teachers, circuit supervisors and the Municipal Education Directorate for enhancing the image of the Municipality.
He said the Assembly would soon award the contract for a basic school at Mile 44 to provide education to children in the area, as well as a three-unit classroom block for the Junior High School.
He said the assembly had presented 50 teachers’ tables and chairs to 21 schools and 500 dual desks to schools in the Municipality to create a good environment for teaching and learning.
The MCE said the Assembly was among the best 10 in the country after the first phase of the street naming and property numbering exercise.
The MCE said the assembly and the Judicial Service were working to convert the Suhum Urban Council Hall into a circuit court.
Schools that excelled in the march pass were presented with jerseys and footballs.
