MOBA undertakes Water and Sanitation Project

The Ebusuapanyin of Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA), Captain Paul Forjoe on Thursday cut the sod for work to commence on a Gh?450,000.00 Water and Sanitation Project at the Mfantsipim School to solve its perennial water and sanitation problems.

The project, known as the” Mfantsipim School Water and Sanitation Project” is expected to benefit more than 3,000 residents of the School.

It was initiated and funded by MOBA with support from Interplast and Tullow Ghana, and expected to be completed and commissioned at the 139th Speech and prize giving day ceremony in November, this year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Captain Forjoe explained that the project was a response to a request made to the National Executives of MOBA to help solve the serious health and sanitation problems facing the school.

He said the project will among other things change the two inches water intake pipeline to the school to four inches from the main Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) supply to augment the flow of water to the School.

It will also include the construction of an additional 52 specialized environmentally friendly toilet facilities and rehabilitation of the bathrooms and toilets as well as the construction of four boreholes and a water tank reservoir to serve as backups.

Captain Forjoe advised the students not to recklessly abuse the facility when completed and asked management to adopt a good maintenance culture to ensure its sustainability

He called on all MOBA year groups who have not paid their levies to do so to complete the project as scheduled to serve as a testament of a continual commitment by MOBA to the development of the Mfantsipim School.

Very Rev. Mrs. Naana Dannyame, General Manager of Methodist Schools, said the increasing number of students annually had put a lot of pressure on the social amenities in the School and described the gesture as timely.

She expressed gratitude to MOBA for its continual support to the school and advised the students as well as management to take good care of the facilities when completed.

Ms. Florence Inkoom, Metropolitan Director of Education commended MOBA for the important roles it played in the school to augment the efforts of the Government and the Ghana Education Service (GES).

She called on old students of other senior High Schools to emulate MOBA since Government alone could not afford the full funding of education.

The Head boy of the school, Master Nigel Twi-Yeboah described the project as very necessary as it would facilitate good environmental sanitation.
