The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante-Akyem North constituency in the Ashanti Region Kwadwo Baah Agyeman has commended his constituents for boycotting Ghana’s 59th independence anniversary celebration.
According to the outspoken MP, a decision by Agogo residents and indigenes of surrounding towns to boycott the event indicates their displeasure on continuous killing and other atrocities perpetrated against residents by Fulani herdsmen in the area.
Speaking with Ultimate News’ Isaac Justice Bediako, the MP indicated that he will continue to press hard on government until the last cattle leaves his constituency in order to allow residents to heave a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, this year’s Independence Day celebrations in the Asante-Akyem North Municipality was held at a local community in the area without the MP who at the time was in Kumasi busily campaigning for colleague MP for Manhyia North constituency Collins Owusu Amankwaa ahead of the delayed constituency primary.
