MP donates cow, assorted items to La Muslims for Eidul-Adha

Accra, Dec. 30, GNA - Nii Amasah Namoale, Member of Parliament for Dadekotopon Constituency on Saturday donated a cow and assorted items worth about 10 million cedis to the Muslim community in La towards this year's celebration of Eidul-Adha.

Nii Namoale said the items, included bags of rice and cooking oils was to support the Muslims in La and its environs to celebrate the festival of sacrifice in love by sharing with those who did not have. He said during such occasions it was important to remember the underprivileged in society and make provision for them to join in the celebration in order to make it a joyous and beautiful one for all. Nii Namoale expressed satisfaction to the peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians in La saying, "I'm happy that for so many years now you have lived peacefully with your Christian brothers and sisters in La. "I hope the celebration will be successful and peaceful to further increase the tolerance level of Muslims in our community," he said. The MP urged them to resist any infiltration of strange doctrines or extremism from any group or group of persons that was likely to mar their peace and tolerance.

Alhaji Ibrahim Adjetey Quaye, La Chief Imam, who received the items on behalf of the Muslims community expressed gratitude to the MP and gave the assurance that the items would be used for the purpose for which it was provided. He said it was important to ensure unity at all places since it was only through that, that progress and development would thrive. "Ensuring peaceful coexistence and maintaining it with our fellow Christian brothers is something that we must all work at," he said. This year the Eidul-Adha celebration that would be marked with prayers in all regional and district capitals falls on Saturday December 30, 2006.
