MP donates sports items to schools

Nkoranza (B/A) June 1 GNA - Mr. Hayford Francis Amoako, Member of Parliament for Nkoranza on Friday donated a set of football jerseys, hose and boots valued at 15.2 million cedis to the Nkoranza District Directorate of Education to enhance the sporting activities of schools in the District.

Making the presentation on behalf of the MP, the NDC Chairman for Nkoranza South, Mr Owusu Baffoe explained that the donation was to encourage the youth to develop their talent and show keen interest in sports.

He advised the Nkoranza District schools soccer team to train hard to emerge victorious in the impending Brong Ahafo Regional Basic Schools Sports festival.

The NDC Chairman gave the assurance that the MP would continue to assist in the promotion and development of education in the District. Mr. Kofi Adu-Bediako, NDC Secretary for Nkoranza North asked students to respect their teachers, be disciplined and law abiding and urged them to shun unproductive activities.

Mr. Kwabena Agyeman-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education described the donation as very timely as it would help the District to participate effectively in the impending Festival.

He urged other citizens of Nkoranza to emulate the MP's gesture to enhance total development of education in the area and called on the sports organizers in the district to handle the donation effectively. 1 July 04
