Mr Bryan Acheampong, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Abetifi and Minister at the Office of the Presidency, has donated items worth GH? 30,000.00 to Muslim Communities in the Kwahu East District in the Eastern Region. This, he said was his token to support them in celebrating Eid-Ul- Fitr, the festival marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The items were 70 bags of rice, 22 boxes of cooking oil, 90 pieces of praying mats, 15 bags of sugar and a cash donation of GH?400,000.00.

Presenting the items on behalf of the MP, Mr Isaac Kwame Agyapong, the District Chief Executive wished all Muslims in the District well for going through the fasting without encountering any calamities.

He said the donation was a tradition by the MP to share with the blessings of the Ramadan and also to strengthen the relationship between them.

Mr Agyapong said the MP had plans of supporting and assisting widows, orphans and brilliant but needy children in the constituency to better their standards of living.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Communities, Mallam Mohammed Abubakar, Paramount Chief of Kwahu Tafo Zongo applauded the MP for the items and called on other philanthropists to emulate the kind gesture.

He pleaded with the MP and the District Assembly to establish scholarship packages for Muslims youth to enable brilliant but needy students to have access to quality education.

Creating employment for the youth, he mentioned, would also help reduce unemployment rate in the Zongo communities and to reduce the high rate of rural- urban migration.

Mallam Abubakar promised that Muslims would play their role in ensuring that peace and tranquility would continue to prevail in the area and the country at large.
