Atesikrom (B/A), March. 6, GNA- Mr Yaw Asiedu Mensah, Member of Parliament for Dormaa West, has presented relief items worth GH¢500 and cash of GH¢200 to be distributed among victims of a fire disaster at Atesikrom that, razed 14 houses and left140 people homeless. The items are 10 foam mattresses, two bags of rice, 10 cutlasses and a box of "Dino" cooking oil.

Mr Mensah appealed to the victims not to let the disaster divert their attention from their normal activities and children's education. He noted with regret that bushfires were being allowed to rage in the district despite the formation of several anti-bushfire committees and radio educational programmes.

The MP stated that the fires could only be stopped, if the people demonstrated their commitment to safeguarding the environment and personal properties.

Daniel Mohammed, Assembly Member for Atesikrom, commended the MP for responding to the plight of the people and assured him that the items would be properly utilised.
