MP for Abuakwa presents mono desks to schools

Kyebi (E/R), Dec.2, GNA- The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Akyem Abuakwa constituency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has donated 225 mono-desks at a cost of 50 million cedis to a number of first cycle schools to facilitate teaching and learning in the East Akyem District of the Eastern Region.

The donation, second in this year, brings to a total of 345 desks presented by the MP, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs to schools in the District.

The total value of the furniture is 80 million cedis from the MP's share of the Getfund.

The constituency chairman of the NPP, Mr. Douglas Asare who presented the items on behalf of the MP on Tuesday at Kyebi, said the donation was part of the MP's strategy to improve the level of education in the area.

He called for the culture of maintenance to ensure that the furniture last long.

He said more projects had been earmarked by the MP to raise the standard of education that would be funded from his share of the common fund.

The District Director of education in the area, Ms Ernestina Ofori who received the items, expressed gratitude to the MP and commended him for such initiative to equip the schools with the basic necessities.

The beneficiary schools are at Old Tafo, Anyinasin, Kukurantumi, Apapam, Asikam, Adadientem and Kibi.
