MP presents computers to school

New Nsutem (E/R), Nov. 18, GNA- The Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has presented three sets of computers, two footballs, two volley balls and a set of football jersey to Nsutem Secondary School.

Presenting the items, Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo said he had engaged a computer programmer to transfer the programmes on the computer unto the others at the school's computer laboratory.

He said he would also provide funding for the computer tutors of the school to undergo further training on the programmes that they are not conversant with so that they could teach the students. Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said computer literacy has become part of the educational programmes of the century and to ensure that children in Fanteakwa were not left behind, he decided to sponsor the supply of computers to schools in the constituency not only at the secondary schools alone but also at the basic schools.

For the use of school children at the basic level, he said he had presented some computers to the Deideso Community Centre and some basic schools in Osino.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo observed that, Fanteakwa was not treated fairly when it came to the construction of model second cycle schools in the country and therefore, called on the Ministry of Education to consider second cycle schools in Fanteakwa when the next batch of schools to be turned into model schools are being selected.

He congratulated the students of the school for deciding to attend Nsutem Secondary School and said it was not the name of the school that one attended that matters, but how the student is able to make the best out of the school.

The Nsutemhene, Nana Djan Korkor II, advised the students to be serious with their studies and avoid pre-marital sex so that the expenses that their parents were making on them would be beneficial to their parents and society.

The Headmaster of the School, Mr Siegfried A. K. Ofori thanked Mr Ofosu-Ampofo for his presentation and said the jerseys and balls came at the time the school needed them most because the school was participating in the zonal inter schools competition. 18-11-04
