Ashaiman, Aug 5, GNA - Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North, on Thursday presented relief items to the flood victims at Ashaiman.

This followed a passionate appeal made on behalf of the victims by Ken City, owners of Oman FM and NET Two Television stations after the floods.

The items included 37 bags of rice, seven boxes of cooking oil and second hand clothing.

Mr Agyapong said since the disaster was a natural phenomenon, it could be prevented in future if people in authority guarded against the issuing of permits for developers to put up structures at unauthorized places especially on water ways.

Presenting the items to Mr Abdul Aziz Suleiman, Assemblyman for Asenso Electoral Area at Ashaiman, the MP warned that the distribution should not be done along party lines.

He pointed out that the affected people were Ghanaians and that it was wrong for any group of people to use favouritism and discrimination in sharing the relief items.

Mr Aziz thanked the MP and all public-spirited individuals and institutions who donated their widow's mite to assist the victims.

He gave the assurance that the items would be distributed in a very fair manner.
