Maakro (Ash), Feb 4, GNA- Mr James Adusei-Sarkodie, Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima-Nwabiagya, has made available more than 70 million cedis from his share of the common fund in support of the rehabilitation of a number of schools in his constituency.
This include the distribution of 700 bags of cement, five bundles of roofing sheets and a cash of 45 million cedis.
The beneficiary schools include those at Nkawie, Maakro, Fufuo, Achiase, Ataase, Worapong, Agogo, Ntabaanu, Ahwiaa, Seidi, Boahenkwaa and Hiawu-Besease.
Mr Adusei-Sarkodie made this known when he inspected a 10-hectare land released by the chiefs of Maakro for the construction of a school on Tuesday.
The MP said apart from the efforts at helping to improve on educational infrastructure in the area, he has awarded scholarship to 20 brilliant but needy pupils and students to pursue basic and second cycle education.
Mr Adusei-Sarkodie noted with pride that two students he picked for the scholarship award were now pursuing degree programmes at the University of Ghana, Legon and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.
Two other beneficiaries, he said, have also gained admission into the Assin-Fosu and Akrokerri Training Colleges. Meanwhile, the MP has procured 24 street bulbs for distribution to Abuakwa, Asonomaso, Asuofua and Manhyia new sites to improve on the lighting system in the areas.
