Kalba (NR), Jan 18, GNA - Mr Donald Dari Sordjetey, the Member of Parliament for Sawla-Kalba, has inaugurated a 45 million-cedi radiotelephone facility for the people of Kalba, a farming community in the new Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District in the Northern Region.

With the facility, the people can now communicate with other areas of the country and even beyond, thereby sparing them the agony of travelling about 40 kilometres to Tuna to make their telephone calls. Mr Sordjetey, who acquired the gadgets from his share of MP Common Fund, said it was a move to open up the area for development. He said he would do everything possible to put up schools, libraries and other important facilities.

The MP advised them against the use of violence in achieving their goals and urged them to remain united and committed to their developmental needs.

Mr Matthew Jormah, a youth leader in the community, commended the MP for the facility.

He appealed to the Regional police Command to consider establishing a police station there to arrest and prosecute people engaged in stealing their livestock to neighbouring Cote d'Ivoire. Wura Samuel Seidu Tampouri, Chief of Kalba, appealed to citizens of the area to consider coming home to develop the area.
