New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Mpohor in the Western region, Mr. Alex Kofi Agyekum, has refurbished the constituency party office at a cost of GHC6,000.

According to him, the gesture is to enhance party activities and internal communications.

Speaking at the inauguration of the refurbished office at the weekend, Mr. Agyekum said, it would serve as a converging point for all party members to discuss pertinent issues.

The MP entreated the constituency executives to maintain the facility to last longer. He pledged to work closely with the party foot-soldiers to increase the number of votes the party garnered in both parliamentary and presidential elections in 2012.

That, he believes, would boost the NPP’s chances of re-capturing power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016.

The constituency Chairman of Council of Elders, Mr. Anthony Evans Amoah, who cut the tape to open the office, advised the constituents to rally behind the parliamentary candidate, Mr. Agyekum, and the presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, to unseat the NDC.

Mr. Amoah, who was a former regional Minister under erstwhile Kufuor administration, entreated the constituents not to allow petty wrangling and squabbles to distract their chances of retaining the parliamentary seat in next year’s polls.

He called on the grassroots supporters of the party to mobilise resources and bring new ideas on board so that they could undertake door-to-door campaign, to propagate the message of the party to the electorate.

He also tasked the constituency executives to develop the culture of maintenance so that the facility would last longer for generation yet unborn to use.

The constituency chairman of the party, Mr. Peter Kojo Appiah, pledged to support the effort of the parliamentary candidate to retain the parliamentary seat next year and make the constituency one of the strongholds of the party.

The NPP supporters and sympathisers thronged the new party office amidst dancing of brass band music with lots of merry making.
