MP spends 105 million cedis on Development

Kumasi, Aug. 14, GNA - Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase, has within the last four months injected about 105 million cedis into the provision of various materials, in support of development projects in his constituency.

Alhaji Mubarak, who disclosed this said, funds for procurement and supply of the materials emanated from his share of the MP"s common fund. Alhaji Mubarak disclosed this during an interaction with members of the Saint Theresah's Catholic Church at Asawase in Kumasi on Sunday, as part of his tour of the constituency.

The MP's visit also took him to other churches including the Methodist, Presbytarian, Pentecost, Baptist and the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) churches.

The materials so far disbursed under the development programme include 300 dual desks to 14 schools, 150 bags of cement and 16 trips of stone chippings, to six schools.

Under the package, the MP is also expending about 14 million cedis to ensure repair works on the grounded Asawase police vans. Alhaji Mubarak said these apart, works on eight library desks and 50 chairs, as well as two major shelves for the Sepe Timpon M/A Junior Secondary School are about completed.

The MP said in view of the importance he attaches to education, he has secured 37 scholarships for needy but brilliant senior secondary school students in the constituency.

Alhaji Mubarak assured his constituents of plans to open an office at the Asawase Community Centre just to make himself more accessible to them.
