Sawla (NR), Oct. 18, GNA - Mr. Donald Dari Soditey, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Sawla/Tuna/Kalba constituency has spent more than 200 million cedis on development projects to assist in improving living conditions in the constituency.
Mr. Soditey told the GNA in an interview at Sawla in the Sawla/Tuna/Kalba District that he used part of his MP's share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) to embark on various development projects and paid school fees for some needy school children.
He mentioned the projects as: the construction of two bedroom teachers' quarters at Blema near Sawla at the cost of 80 million cedis, the construction of three pavilions and three-unit classroom block at Gbonkoyini at the cost of 50 million cedis and had spent about 60 million cedis to extend water to the new Sawla Secondary School and the Cyprian Minor Seminary.
The rest are building of culverts at the Tuna Township and extension of electricity to St. Augustine's Junior Secondary School at the cost of 25 million cedis and 20 million cedis respectively. The MP said he had also provided a shea butter processing machine at the cost of 31 million cedis for women in Gindabu and installed a corn mill with a cassava grinder at Kong through assistance from the Iranian Embassy.
Mr. Soditey said he had also helped some farmers in the constituency with 16-bee hives to encourage bee harvesting at Sanyiri and through assistance from the World Outreach International (WOI), in Ho presented about 6,000 assorted library books to selected schools in the constituency.
He said some of the projects had been completed, while others were ongoing and gave the assurance that he would work assiduously to improve lives in the constituency to justify the confidence the people reposed in the NDC by voting massively for him. He advised the constituents to stay solidly behind the NDC to ensure victory for the party in 2008 for more development projects.
