MP supports Akokoaso and Ayirebi SSS

Akim Akokoaso (E/R), Oct. 5, GNA - Mr David Oppon Kusi, Member of Parliament for Ofoase- Ayirebi, on Tuesday donated a number of items valued at about 60 million cedis to the Akim Akokoaso and Akim Ayirebi Senior Secondary schools at separate ceremonies on Monday. The items included four 20-inch colour television sets each to the two schools, gas cookers and ovens, gas cylinders, blenders and a microwave oven among other items.

At Akim Akokoaso, Mr Benjamin Morkle, Headmaster, received the items on behalf of the school, while Mr Philip Danquah, Headmaster of Akim Ayirebi SSS, received those for his school. Addressing the staff and students of the two schools at the separate functions, Mr Oppon Kusi reminded them of the importance of education, saying "without education, few individuals can live meaningful lives."

He urged the students to take advantage of all opportunities available to them in the school to lay a solid foundation for their future.

Mr Oppon Kusi advised them to be discipline at all times, reminding them that indiscipline often resulted in poor academic performance. He acknowledge the devoted services and sacrifices by the teachers and urged them to continue to work even harder to lay a strong foundation for the development of the human and material resources of the area.

At Akim Akokoaso, Mr Morkle urged the students to be inspired by the donation to learn harder, while at Akim Ayirebi, Mr Danquah expressed the school's gratitude to the MP and appealed to the public for more support.

He appealed to the MP to assist the school to construct additional blocks of classrooms, teachers' bungalows and hostels to accommodate more teachers and students.

In a related development, Mr Oppon Kusi has donated 500 bags of cement and paint valued at about 40 million cedis to help improve pre-school facilities in the area.
