The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama, Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah, has urged the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to ensure strict enforcement of its sanitation bye-laws.

She said it should do everything to bring offenders to justice to restore some level of sanity.

The MP was particularly unhappy with the situation where many households in the metropolis are without toilet facilities and said this should not be allowed to continue.

She gave the advice when inaugurating a 28-seater water closet toilet built for the residents of Bantama.

The GH¢120,000.00 facility comes with a borehole and was funded from her share of the MPs Common Fund.

She called on the people to maintain good personal hygiene and adopt proper environmental sanitation practices to prevent diseases.

“Do not litter the streets and avoid dumping garbage into drains and other unauthorized sites”, she advised.

Madam Dapaah urged the residents to keep the facility clean at all times and to make sure that it was well maintained.

Nana Owusu Appau III, the Gyaasehene of Bantama, commended the MP for her enormous contribution to the development of the constituency.

She has helped to build classroom blocks and supplied schools with furniture and computers.

Added to these, is the award of scholarship to some brilliant but needy students, the Gyassehene, said.
