Accra, May 23, GNA - Mr. Ronald Anderson a Regional Finance Manager for MTN Ghana Northern Business District, has donated five computers and a router to the La Mansaamoo Kpee (La Town Development Association) as part of his personal community development initiative. It is also in appreciation for the Association's support of his secondary and tertiary education for a period of eight years. A statement from MTN in Accra on Monday said the items are to be used for the setting up of a Data centre. Mr. Anderson pledged to provide airtime worth GH¢ 50.00 every month and also take up the initial cost of maintenance for the items for 12 months. The MTN Ghana Foundation, in addition to Mr Anderson's commitment, also supported the Association, located in La in Accra, with items to the tune of GH¢ 21,000.00.
The items donated included 200 Insecticide Treated Mosquito Nets, 20 low ends mobile phones, 20 Sim Cards and GH¢200.00 worth of airtime. These items were to support the volunteers who are currently working with the Development Association.
Mr. Anderson said: "I am very pleased to extend a hand of gratitude to the La Mansaamo Kpee for the timely intervention in contributing greatly to my education and career when it mattered most. "I would not have been who I am today without the support of this Association. Many people would usually wait till they have enough to share before they start to think of who contributed to their growth and development=85 as at this time, I do not have much but I need to give back to my community". He also acknowledged some individuals in the community association who contributed personally and immensely to his life.
Mr. Robert Kuzoe, the Executive Secretary to MTN Ghana Foundatio, said "the Foundation finds this initiative laudable and therefore willingly supported in making a difference in the community". Receiving the items on behalf of the Association, Mr. Francis Akogyeram thanked Mr. Anderson and MTN for their kind gesture and urged other telecommunications and corporate bodies to take a cue from the goodwill shown by Roland and MTN. He said MTN had over the years demonstrated its commitment to partnering communities in development projects. In his remarks, the chairman of the council of elders of the association, Mr Amakai Amartefio, said it was time to celebrate a good citizen and a good corporate organization. He commended Mr Andersson and MTN.
