MWCA assisted women's group in South Tongu

Sogakofe,(V/R) March 22, GNA - The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs last year disbursed an amount of 100 million cedis as micro loans to 12 women groups in the South Tongu District. Madam Cate Aku-Aglah, the District Chief Executive for South Tongu who disclosed this to GNA at Sogakofe said the loan was given to women engaged in mat weaving, vegetable farming, soap and pomade manufacturing, batik and tie and Dye making and women in other income generating ventures.

The beneficiary group were located around Adutor, Vume, Kpotame, Agbeve and Tefle.


The rest were Agbakofe, Dabala Lolito and Sogakofe.


She said the Ministry was determined and would do everything to alleviate poverty amongst women, especially in the rural areas and improve on their lots.

She called on the traditional authorities to release lands to the youth and women engaged in farming to encouraged them work more hard to fend for themselves.


Madam Aglah appealed to the beneficiaries to pay back their loans promptly to enable others to benefit.


She said the Assembly has embarked on rehabilitation and re-gravelling of a number of feeder roads in the districts to facilitate carting of goods from the hinterlands to the marketing centres. She said some of the roads under re-gravelling include Kpodze - Agave and Sogakofe - Detsawome.
