Maame Finba preparatory school acquires computers

Obuasi, June 17, GNA- The management of Maame Finba Preparatory School at Pomposo near Obuasi is to acquire a total of 38 computers for the school to assist the pupils to acquire skills and knowledge in computer. Initially, 13 computers have been purchased and installed for commencement of the programme, which is also designed to help the pupils to become abreast with the modern information and communication technology.

Mr Bartholomew Afoakwa, the proprietor of the school, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday, said the programme would help improve the knowledge of pupils in national and international issues. He said: "Many educational activities have been programmed in the computers to help motivate self-learning amongst the children".

Mr Afoakwa observed that though the computer training had not taken off, the mere installation of the computers had encouraged punctuality of pupils in the school. He said management was in the process of constructing a library

block to enhance teaching and learning. Mr Afoakwa also said the school was committed to assisting the physically challenged children in the area to acquire formal education by making their parents to pay reduced school fees. He said the world was undergoing rapid technological advancement and that it was important for children with disabilities to become self-supporting rather than resorting to begging for alms. Mr Afoakwa said: "It is the vision of this school to train children for them to become responsible adults".
