Mac-Dic Royal Plaza Hotel supports "my first day in school"

Koforidua, Aug.28, GNA - Mr Thomas Adjei, Director, Mac-Dic Royal Plaza Hotel, on Thursday reminded parents that the best legacy they could bequeath to their children was to give them good education. "One can leave money but it will surely get finished, cocoa farms can be infested with diseases or bush fires can raze down the farms, but when one is educated, his knowledge increases as he grows older". Mr Adjei said this when he presented 2,044 caps and 207 assorted drinks to the New Juaben Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in Koforidua, to support this year's "My first day in school".

The programme, which was instituted by the GES a few years back, aims at stimulating children to go to school when it re-opens. Mr Adjei said since education was a vital tool for development, the company had decided to supplement government's efforts in giving quality education to Ghanaian children by supporting the programme. Mr Christopher Williams, General Manager, Mac-Dic Royal Plaza Hotel, expressed the hope that the presentation would make the children feel at home when they report to school. He assured the municipal education directorate of the preparedness of the company to assist in whatever way possible, to motivate school children in the area to remain in school, and to take their lessons serious.

Ms Victoria Obeng, an Assistant Director in charge of Basic Schools in the New Juaben Municipality, who received the items on behalf of the directorate thanked management of the company for the gesture and urged others to emulate them. She said the time has come where the private sector and the well to-do in the society are expected to complement the efforts of the government in giving quality but affordable education to the Ghanaian child.
