Former President John Dramani Mahama’s hankering for leading the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as flagbearer in 2020 will receive a massive boost today.
Scores of supporters of Mr. Mahama in the Ashanti Region will be making cash donations to support his presidential bid, starting from today.
A special desk will be created at the Ashanti Regional NDC office at Amakom today for supporters of the ex-president to make cash donations to boost his ambition.
The Coordinator for Ashanti Regional Fund Raising for John Mahama, Francis Dodovi, made this known in an interview with DAILY GUIDE on Monday evening.
Already, scores of NDC supporters in other parts of the country have been joining long queues just to donate to help Mr. Mahama to pay the GH¢400,000 filing fee.
Dodovi said thousands of supporters of Mr. Mahama in Kumasi, notably in the NDC, have expressed their desires to also make cash contribution to support him.
“We have been receiving calls from thousands of Mr. Mahama supporters from all over Kumasi that have expressed readiness to support him.
“Some of the people called from Suame Magazine, Alabar and Adum as well as other commercial areas in the city, expressing their desire to donate to help Mr. Mahama,” he disclosed.
Dodovi said the desk has been created in the NDC office so that every loyal supporter of Mr. Mahama will get the chance to also donate to help the ex-Ghanaian leader.
He said the ‘mad rush’ by people to donate to help Mr. Mahama clearly shows that Ghanaians see Mr. Mahama as the one that can save the country from its woes.
Asawase Bails Mahama
Meanwhile, the NDC members in the Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region have paid the GH¢ 20,000 NDC presidential race nomination fee for Mr. Mahama.
Alhaji Mutum, the Asawase NDC Chairman, said he and other party executives at Asawase travelled to the NDC national office in Accra on Monday to pay for the forms.
He said Ghana is in difficult times presently and so the teeming NDC members across Ghana see Mr. Mahama as the suitable person to save Ghana.
Alhaji Mutum said the Asawase NDC members want to see Mr. Mahama as president again, adding “we shall also pay the GH¢400,000 filing fee for him”.
