Maiden Ghana UK Based awards held

The first Ghana UK Based Awards (GUBA) Expo and exhibition fair has been held in London.

The Expo, which was opened by Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, brought together UK-based, Ghanaian small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) that are seeking to bring their products to the British mainstream market.

In a release issued to the Ghana News Agency, on Monday, in Accra, Mrs Ofosu-Adjare applauded the organisers for putting a wonderful event together.

She encouraged Ghanaians in the Diaspora to take advantage of opportunities in Ghana especially the tourism industry.

She said as the sector minister, she would assist any investor or Ghanaian who intends to establish business in Ghana, saying she believes, the investment incentives would help their businesses to thrive.

Mrs Ofosu-Adjare implored participants to see the challenges in Ghana as opportunities to invest in, to help develop the sector.

Mr Victor Smith, Ghana’s High Commissioner to UK assured the Ghanaian community in the country of the commission’s support for them to grow their businesses.

He added that, lots of incentives have been put in place by government to make Ghana a better place.

Madam Dentaa Acheampong, Founder of GUBA Foundation, said the expo was to provide a platform for Ghana-inspired products in particular to be showcased, creating an opportunity for exposure and business development for the SMBs, as well as investment prospects for larger organizations

She said the Expo would provide SMBs with access to industry experts who would share their expertise on how to develop a successful business in the UK.
