Gomoa Potsin (C/R), July 11, GNA - The Gomoa District Chief Executive, Ms Joyce Aidoo has advocated the formation of cadet corps in all second cycle institutions to be used as instruments for instilling discipline and patriotism in students. Ms Aidoo said cadet corps in schools would bridge the gap between the military and the public.
She made the call at the sixth anniversary and handing over ceremony of the Potsin T.I Ahmadiyya Naval Cadet Corps at Gomoa Potsin at the weekend.
Ms Aidoo later reviewed the parade mounted by four officers and 25 cadets.
The theme for the ceremony was "A well trained school cadet, a prepared instrument for national defense". The DCE urged cadets to uplift the image of their units and let their lifestyles to attract public interest in the military. She appealed to them to be disciplined for the school authorities see a great difference between their behavior and of those who were not cadets.
CDT LT. Daniel Domie, Master in-charge (MIC) said the Naval Cadet Corps formed in the school six years ago made it possible for a number of cadets to gain admission into the navy. Prizes were also distributed to deserving cadets.
