Mr. Theo Thad Mosachor, Headmaster of St. Martin’s Senior High School at Adoagyiri near Nsawam, has called on parents and guardians to make education of their children a priority.

He entreated them to provide the educational needs of children for improved teaching and learning in schools.

Mr. Thad Mosachor made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency during the celebration of the School’s 50th anniversary at Nsawam in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region.

He said: “acquiring huge properties at the expense of education could jeopardize the future of family, society and the nation as a whole.”

He said quality education results in good governance and economic growth without which the nation’s future expectations would be meaningless.

Mr. Thad Mosachor recounted that the St. Martin’s Senior High School was established in 1966 with 12 students and now has over 2,000 student population.

He said the school has trained prominent personalities including the former Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Alhassan.

Mr. Desmond Adu-Boahene, who spoke on behalf of the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Ben Ohene-Ayeh, extolled the school for its academic and sports performance in the Eastern Region and the nation at large in the past years.

He said since education remained the bedrock of civilized societies and the key to sustainable development, students should pay serious attention to their lessons.

“Education is the tool to free ourselves from the shackles of poverty and under-development through acquisition of knowledge,” Mr. Adu-Boahene said.

Mr. Mohammed Alhassan, former IGP, who chaired the function, called on stakeholders, parents and guardians to provide the needs of their wards and tasked them to pay school fees promptly.

He said these would help promote quality teaching and learning for the proper upbringing of responsible students and adults in society.
