Accra, Oct. 31, GNA- Mr John Asumey, newly elected Chief of Arigu Community in Accra, has appealed to citizens of Arigu to live in peace with their neighbours, particularly, Pwalugus and Balugus, so as to pave way for development in the town.
Mr Asumey, who was speaking soon after his election in Accra, said he would take initiatives to bring peace among the people, adding that, he would establish a welfare fund to cater for the interest of citizens. The welfare fund is to assist citizens with their medical and school bills in times of need, he said.
Mr Asumey, 67, a former employee of the University of Ghana, Legon, was unanimously elected to lead the Mamprusi community. He outlined plans to form committees to counsel the youth in the community.
Mr Asumey urged the youth to refrain from acts such as unguarded sex, drunkenness, smoking and alcoholism, so that with sound mind they could apply their potentials towards economic growth of their hometown. Mr Ben Kanzoni, Chairman of the Arigu Youth Association, urged members to attend meetings so that collectively they could plan towards the development of the area.
