Man found dead in classroom

Academic activities at the Galilea M/A 1 Junior High School in the Ga South Municipality were suspended following the discovery of a deceased individual in one of the classrooms.

The identity of the deceased person is yet to be determined. He was found early in the morning as students arrived for school, lying in a mosquito net inside the classroom.

A teacher at the school, Kwarteng, disclosed to the media that some students had seen the man on Monday. When confronted, he claimed to be ill.

Kwarteng added that the incident has traumatised the pupils.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Landlords Association in the area, Mr. Kwesi Nyarko, lamented that miscreants, smokers, and sex workers have taken over the school premises.

He stated that pupils often return from weekends to find human excreta on their desks, used condoms, and other disturbing items left behind by those who use the classrooms for unauthorised activities.

Nyarko added that efforts were made under the previous government to have security guards deployed to the area, but those efforts proved futile.
