The Police at Assin Darmang has exhumed the body of a young man in his early thirties, believed to have killed and buried by unknown people at Otabilkrom, in the Assin South District of the Central Region.
Confirming the tragedy to the Ghana News Agency, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr Okyere Andam, the District Commander, said at about 0700 hours on Wednesday, June 20, the police received information from some farmers that they had seen a buried human body with one leg protruding from the ground.
The police quickly moved to the scene, exhumed and examined the fresh body and saw a cut at the back of the head between the occipital and the posterior neck area.
According to the District Commander, the police suspected the killers to have hit him at the back of the head and hurriedly buried him on Wednesday night.
The police did not find anything on him and the residents could not immediately identify the victim or his relatives.
No arrest has so far been made but the police had commenced investigations into the matter to find the assailants as well as the relatives of the deceased.
The body has been deposited at Abura Dunkwa Government hospital for preservation, post-mortem and further investigation.
He appealed to the public to volunteer information leading to the arrest of the killer or Killers and urged the people of the area, who could not trace a relative, to report to the police.
That notwithstanding, he allayed the fears of the residents in the area and assured them that the police had put in place security measures to enable them go about their normal duties without fear.
