Man remanded on defilement charge

Tema, Feb. 23, GNA- A 24-year-old man who defiled a 10-year-old girl has been remanded in custody by the Tema Circuit Court "B".

Isaac Lanyo pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on March 1, 2004. Police Inspector Teye Martey told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that the victim is a pupil and lives with Lanyo in the same house and that sometime ago the victim saw a hand purse with Lanyo and expressed interest.

He said on February 9, about 1000 hours, Lanyo met the victim and asked her to come into a room for the purse. Lanyo removed her panties, pushed her on the bed and had sex with her. The prosecution said some one entered the room, and saw them in the act. A report was made to the police and Lanyo was arrested.
